Bike Hire Recommended Routes

Whether you are taking it easy on some forest tracks or putting your skills to the test on more challenging trails we have great routes that we think you will love. Hiring a bike is a great way to get active, ride over to some great bike friendly local pubs and enjoy the beautiful Chilterns.

We recommend using Komoot for checking out local routes or getting some route inspiration.

Below are a few places you might see on your bike ride.

Coombe Hill

When you make it to the top of Coombe Hill you are met with some of the most beautiful and rewarding scenery; and even sometimes an ice cream van! This is not far from the start of your bike ride and would take an amateur roughly 30 mins to crest Coombe hill (don't worry it's not all up from our side).

Wendover Woods and The Café in the Woods

Wendover woods has a lot of great cycling as well as a designated family orientated blue trail. The Café in the woods is a great location to grab some drinks and snacks to keep you on the trails. To get to the top of Wendover Woods would take up to 1 and a half hours from Otec Bikes.

Chequers Estate

  

The chequers estate is the Prime Ministers country home. There is a bridleway that is accessible to cycle on where you can have a view of Chequers inside the gates shown above, however we do not use these to enter. The entrance to the footpath is just outside where we are located.

 Buckmoorend Farm Kitchen

Located on site with us Buckmoorend Farm's Kitchen offers a range of great produce fresh from the farm as well as drinks and ice cream. They are amazing and we recommend either packing your lunch here or getting a post ride treat.

The Russell Arms

Good food, nice beer garden and great place to stop at any point along your ride. The Russell Arms is our recommendation for the place to try out first if you are on a local pub tour.

Other Bike Friendly Local Pubs

The Plough at Cadsden - A favourite of past Prime Ministers. (Cadsden)

The Shoulder of Mutton - Dog friendly and with a big beer garden. (Wendover)

The Red Lion - One of the oldest pubs in England, also over night accommodation if you are planning a multi-day trip. (Wendover)

The King and Queen - Dog friendly and live sport broadcasted. (Wendover)
